BWT announces changes in its management organisation

Bearsted Woodland Trust (BWT) has announced a number of changes in both the membership and organisation of its Management Committee and Trustee bodies.

Management Committee Co-Chair Sharon Bayne has stepped down – with fellow Co-Chair John Wale assuming sole responsibility as Chair. A new position of Deputy Chair has been created, with maintenance volunteer Adrian Bouwens - responsible for BWT’s ecology strategy - announced as the first incumbent.

In other changes, BWT Web Editor Judy Buckley has also stepped down, to be replaced by maintenance volunteer Martin Herrema, who joins the Management Committee. BWT Treasurer Martin Gray has been appointed to the charity’s Trustees, in addition to continuing in his role as a member of the Management Committee.

Paying tribute to those stepping down, John Wale said: ‘Sharon has been with BWT since its early years and has been a huge and steadying influence on its development and shaping. We are delighted that she will still be on hand to provide environmental advice when needed.

‘Judy has also played a key role in promoting BWT over many years, most recently in her editorship of our website and before that our newsletter.

‘On behalf of everyone at BWT, I would like to thank Sharon and Judy for their huge commitment and help as we have grown over the years. We will miss them, but will certainly be keeping in touch.’
