Bearsted Woodland Trust (BWT) will host two Nature Detective Trail days for children this summer.
The events come as BWT has again been selected for a national Green Flag Community Award, making it the fifteenth year in a row it has received the coveted accolade.
Children aged 3-11 are being invited to complete a nature puzzle trail and enjoy the award-winning green space on July 25 and August 29. The two events are both free and run from 10am-3pm. Participants and their parents are asked to meet up at the children’s playground on site.
The Green Flag Award 2025-26 recognises BWT for its community engagement. A Green Flag spokesperson said: ‘Bearsted Woodland Trust is one of 2,250 open spaces in the UK to achieve the award, which is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.’
BWT’s community involvement includes links to local schools and effective training for the team of community volunteers that maintains the site.
BWT Management Committee Chair John Wale said he was delighted that the popular green space had again been recognised for a coveted Green Flag award.
‘To have gained the Award every year since 2011 is a remarkable achievement. The fact that we are hosting these two Nature Detective Days over the summer for young people to enjoy highlights our community commitment.’
The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
