Young content creators are being invited to record the beauty of spring blooming at Bearsted Woodland Trust (BWT) as part of a newly-announced competition.
BWT has launched the competition for young people in Bearsted and the wider Maidstone area, with pupils at secondary schools being invited to showcase their content creation skills in either video reels or photographs.
The two age groups in the competition, 11-14 and 15-18, will both have a £75 first prize for the best entry, with runners-up also scooping a £25 prize. Closing date for entries is May 31 2026.
Organiser Erika Wentzel, a member of BWT’s Management Committee, said the competition will provide an opportunity for young people to be creative in using their camera phone to capture the landscape and features of BWT as it blooms in springtime.
'Our young people are so creative with their phone cameras and content creation is a great skill to develop for future career opportunities.
'We hope that they will bring their enthusiasm and talent and express themselves at Bearsted Woodland Trust, with its 28 acres of woodland and meadow. This location provides a great setting for young creatives to record the beauty of spring through either a short video reel or photograph,' she said.
Photographs entered in the competition should show the beauty of the landscape, perhaps a tree, or another element of nature at BWT and include a caption.
Reel entries should incorporate a short video, including audio, of no more than 30 seconds in length to showcase the landscape or individual elements at BWT. The focus of the reel could be either to stimulate interest and draw the viewer into the Trust, or to gently lead the viewer through the green space and show its beauty.
