Those of us who went on the Woodland Walk in April (see June Newsletter) saw a coot's nest in Major's Lakes. The mother coot has hatched out one baby; she and baby can often be seen on the mud flats near the bridge. Listen out for her calling her chick: "chuck, chuck, chuck."
